Back in the Saddle

After a moment of madness 2 years ago.  Where I sold or Goodwilled all of my cameras, boxed up my belongings and bought an RV.  I hit the road, for a not so long stay, to Humboldt County.  Why it was so short is another post for later. I sold it all.  My Leica M6, got rid of my MKII, the polaroids, the holgas, the Canon AE-1, a Nikonos III.  All gone.  Stripped to nothing but my iPhone camera.

It may sound like I’m whining but in reality to get rid of everything allowed me to take time away from the frame and viewfinder to experience life.  To find out whether this thing I’ve done for as long as I can remember, if it really was something to me.

In that time away I found out.  Yes!!!  Photography does mean very much to me.  It’s a way for me to remember the flood of visual stimulation I receive from the moment I wake till the darkness of sleep.  To take every beautiful moment, soul and stationary item and remember their creation.

With my new Nikonos IV-A & 35mm Nikkor lens in had and a roll of Ilford HP5+ loaded I took the to the shores & looked for what the universe had to offer.

There was quite an abundance of people out, despite the wind and cool weather.  Surfers below the pier were enjoying the winter waves.

Now for some nerdy photo information.  I home developed these negatives.  I’ve only recently begun doing this and will write a bit more in this later on.  All in all though, I’m loving the combo of Ilford HP5+ film and Kodak developing chemicals.
